The time has come to start asking participants in our club to contribute in maintaining the infrastructure of our organization. Though we do seek out sponsors to help pay for targeted aspects of what we do, they do not pay for everything. That burden has fallen on the Board of Directors since forming and on myself previously. For example, GO AZ Motorcycles is currently our Ride Series sponsor and cover all costs related to our rides and ride related awards that we give out at the end of the year, but they do not cover things like the costs related to keeping and maintaining our website.
GO AZ Motorcycles, Peoria, AZ – September 28-30, 2018

It’s 7am on a gorgeous Friday morning and I am heading to GO AZ Motorcycles in Peoria AZ to meet up with the AZRATPack to ride the annual Route 66 motorcycle tour, this year called the 6’s Wild Grand Tour. The morning air is crisp and I am eager to get this bike on the road.
Victor Castañeda, President of the AZRATPack this year created a ride to take advantage of the many Route 66 historical and memorable routes in Arizona. This years: Day 1 routing, would take us from Peoria, AZ out US 60 to the Devils Highway, US 666 (renamed AZ 191) eventually arriving at the first nights stay in Holbrook, AZ on Route 66. The second day would take riders through the petrified forest and onward to ShipRock, New Mexico, Four Corners and eventually stopping in Chinle, AZ, Canyon de Chelley.
Today’s breakfast had the potential to be a big mess. If you were following on Facebook, our event had 85 RSVPs as confirmed going and about 1,300 interested. Had close to 100 people shown up to the restaurant at once, they would have been completely over run.
Our 7th Annual GO AZ Motorcycles Sedona Ride saw 39 riders leave the GO AZ Peoria dealership at around 8:30 AM in 4 groups of roughly ten. The weather for the most part cooperated with us save for a few sprinkles on the way home. Heat and humidity were the worst parts of the weather we had to deal with, but only on the way home.
What potentially could have been a very hot ride to and from Yarnell was actually not too bad! After installing a fresh battery on my Honda last night, she was ready to go this morning! Our 2nd Sunday Breakfast was held today at the Ranch House which is right at the top of Yarnell Hill just down the street from downtown.
As of this writing, only 3 Tee Pees with 2 double beds are left at the Wigwam in Holbrook! Don’t miss the opportunity to stay at an icon of old Route 66! Once we sell out of rooms at the Wigwam, we’ll announce an alternate hotel that you can book on your own. For more info on the 6’s Wild Grand Tour, click here!
