Ajo Ride Recap

GO AZ Motorcycles Peoria

The last ride of 2022 started with a brisk morning ride to the start point at GO AZ Motorcycles in Peoria. After a brief rider’s meeting, we all set out for Ajo, a charming little town just north of the Mexican border along Arizona State Route 85 featuring a traditional town square where the restaurant that hosted us for lunch was located.

November Club Breakfast Recap

Phil’s Filling Station – Fountain Hills, AZ

The November breakfast ride to Fountain Hills started out as a very brisk ride at about 48 degrees when I pulled out of the garage.

The extra layers added warmth to me & the heated seat warming my butt made for a comfortable ride east into the rising sun. Due to a few road closures the 101 was a bit busy for a Saturday morning and of course the few drivers that feeling the need for speed.

October General Membership Meeting & Dinner Recap

Canton Dragon Asian Bar & Grill, Scottsdale, AZ

El Chino Loco’s pick for dinner this month is an old favorite of mine and a long time haunt of ours, especially when I still worked on that side of town often going after work for dinner and sometimes even for lunch!

Over the years, we’ve gotten to know Candy the owner, Phoebe and Anna our usual servers. They serve the style of Chinese food that I grew up with living on the East Coast, so I was excited to make the trek from Buckeye to Scottsdale for this month’s dinner as it had been a while since I had been there.

We are looking for people that are on board with the philosophy of how our club is run and the way we interact with our members and sponsors. You will also need to be a person that engaged and fairly tech friendly.

At first, new board members will not hold a title so they can acclimate to the way we handle club business, once familiar and comfortable, you will be asked to take on the responsibility of one of our open positions. Board members may hold more than one position.

Here is a list of positions on the board with descriptions/qualifications, who holds it and what’s open:

September General Membership Meeting & Dinner Recap

Euro Pizza Café, Fountain Hills, AZ

I had picked this restaurant as a place the pack should visit for several reasons.

They serve award winning pizza , have a great location on the Fountain Hills lake and the owner,  Merita,  opened this restaurant more then 20 years ago also is a friend of mine.

This was my first Saturday dinner I planned. Initially I had only reserved 10 seats because I was told that Saturdays might not be desired and people could possibly not go.

September Club Breakfast Recap

Tortilla Flat, AZ

The trip to breakfast started early for me as I felt like I was riding to New Mexico from my West Valley home in Buckeye. The good news was that it was a nice and clear morning with fairly moderate temperatures. Favorable conditions for my 80 mile jaunt to Tortilla Flat!

It had been quite a while since I last made the trip. In the earlier days of the club, we did an annual trip up there on New Year’s Day. Unpredictable weather eventually put a damper on that tradition. In more recent years, we’ve scheduled mid-summer breakfast meetups there, but it’s been a while.
