West Valley Ride Recap

GO AZ Motorcycles, Peoria, AZ – January 19, 2019

by  El Presidente

Our first ride of the year started on a fairly mild morning at GO AZ Motorcycles Peoria. After a brief rider’s meeting we all set off for a nice half day’s ride into Wickenburg then down Vulture Mine Rd to the relaxing roads that take you through the farming towns of Arlington and Buckeye.

The group of 48 riders set off towards Wickenburg on US60 and then down Vulture Mine Rd after a short gas stop at the Shell station leading into town.  After crossing over I-10, we took Old US 80 into the town of Arlington and into Gila Bend.  This area treated us to a view of the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant, where nothing was glowing thankfully, some of the West Valley’s farm land, across the historic and scenic Gillespie Dam Bridge and right by Gila Bend’s shrimp farm, one of the largest in the country.

Some of our group stopped for lunch at the Space Age Restaurant while others went to Sofia’s Mexican Restaurant.  After lunch, everyone headed home on various routes to the East and West Valleys.

Note:  Everyone participating our rides are required to sign two wavers and attend the rider’s meeting.  Because our rides are sanctioned AMA events, the waiver provided by us must be signed.  The second waiver is provided by GO AZ Motorcycles and must be completely filled out and signed for participation in any rides leaving from any of their facilities.  Failure to fill out and sign waivers may disqualify you from participating in the ride.  We also use the waivers as a way to keep track of riders that participate in our rides that may qualify for a Ride Series award that is given out at the end of the year at our Holiday Meatfest & Awards Banquet.  You also must be a full paying member to qualify for an award.
