Mamma’s Kitchen Café, Dewey-Humbolt, AZ
by El Presidente
I rolled out early to meet Rodney & Dean at Carefree Highway and I-17 and much to my surprise, it was already 92 degrees at 6AM! Don’t get me wrong, but 92 is tolerable, especially with the hazy remnants of last night’s dust storm blocking the sun!
After finding them at McDonald’s, we rolled up I-17 fairly effortlessly except for a little bit of traffic around the Sunset Point Rest Area. We then proceeded to get off on AZ SR69 and headed towards Prescott. Though fairly straight, it’s a nice, relaxing road through the rolling hills of the area. Being about 10 degrees cooler makes it even nicer!
Mamma’s Kitchen Café is a fairly small place on Main St in Dewey-Humbolt. The area is made to look like an old western town that was typical of the area in the 1800s though the Subway and Shell gas station kind of ruin it…
It was great to see some familiar faces! Mike Gregg made it out on his Triumph after having a pretty rough year! Great to see you up and around, especially on two wheels! It was also nice to catch up with Dennis Even who heads up the Shamrocks MC and was the chair of the first 3 Flags Classic that I road back in 2013!
I rode back home the same way I came up but made the obligatory t-shirt stop at the local Harley-Davidson dealer! It was hot to say the least!
As always, it was great to see everyone and a good feeling to be getting back to normal! See you all in Yarnell for next month’s breakfast!
