Route 66 Tour: Great 1st Multi-day Ride & Updates

Parts Unkown, AZ

by El Presidente

The 2019 Route 66 Tour is fast approaching!  This is a great ride to go on if you’ve been pining for going on a multi-day trip but haven’t had the confidence on going on one by yourself.  With short riding days and frequent stops, this is the perfect ride to get started on!  Also, since we’re never really that far away from civilization, you can always pick something up at the store that you may have forgotten to pack or for a circumstance that you didn’t plan for (cold weather).  Heck, we’ll be passing not too far away from one GO AZ’s newest locations in Flagstaff.

If you have any questions on how to prepare for this ride, please feel free to ask one of us on the Board of Directors at one of our upcoming dinners and/or breakfasts.  Make sure you check our events page!

Updates

As of August 31st, the block of rooms at the special rate at The Canyon Motel & RV Park will end and the rooms will open back up to the public at regular rates.  In the case they are sold out, here are a few alternatives for a night’s stay in Williams that will give you the Route 66 “experience”:

The Grand Canyon Hotel
145 W Route 66
Williams, AZ 86046-2528
(928)635-1419

The Red Garter
137 W Railroad Ave
PO Box 95, Williams, AZ 86046
(800)328-1484

If you prefer the monotony of a chain hotel, this one is the furthest away from Friday night dinner, but the closest to the meet point on Saturday morning:

Days Inn by Wyndham Williams
2488 W Historic Rte 66
Williams, AZ 86046
(928) 440-2681

Below are some of the details for the ride.  For more info and to register, please visit the ride page by clicking the link at the bottom of this post.  Registrations will help us determine the amount of food we will have to pick up for Friday night’s BBQ.

The difficulty level of this ride is EASY.  This ride will have a relaxed pace with frequent rest stops and roads not providing much of a challenge.  Be prepared for possibly cold, almost freezing temperatures early in the day.  This will be a great ride for beginner/intermediate riders as well as cruisers and people riding two-up. This is a great first overnight trip for the novice touring rider!  Roughly 491 miles total from GO AZ Motorcycles Scottsdale to Topock66.
