by El Presidente

Wow, it feels good to be at this point of the year!  Last Thursday, we closed out the wonderful year that 2018 was for the AZRATPack!  2018 was a year that saw a growth in participation in our rides, breakfasts and monthly dinners.  This evening was a celebration of the camaraderie, the interesting places we’ve been to, the way we got to those places and recognition for those of us that were dedicated to seeing and traveling to those places.

Though full details are being worked out, Ride Chair, Rodney Chew has announced that the Shady Dell has been named as the official hotel of the SO AZ Tour 2019.  We are announcing it now because this hotel sells out well in advance and would like it to be full of people attending our ride.  The Shady Dell is a truly unique destination.  Here’s more on the Shady Dell:

December 2nd Sunday Breakfast Recap

Matt’s Big Breakfast Biltmore – Phoenix, AZ – December 9, 2018

by El Presidente

This morning was extra chilly here in far out west Buckeye.  At 45 degrees, I felt there was no reason to be cold, so I opted for the warm confines of my car.  Plus I hadn’t been on a motorcycle since the last breakfast so there was going to need to be a bunch of extra prep this morning like getting the heated vest together and airing up the tires of either the Honda or the Harley.  The Ford was a good choice this morning!

Final Ride

Williams, AZ – November 28, 2018

by Al Messimer

 Dear RATs,

This is to let you know that I have thoroughly enjoyed my rides with your group (although limited by my Williams’ location and several health issues over the past 5-years). Whenever I recall riding with you, I get a big bug eatin’ grin on my face and wish I could have participated more. Victor, our fearless leader, has been the focal point, friend and motivator for me, and I will always cherish the thoughtful, well-planned rides and camaraderie he has managed to quietly inspire through the years. Thank you, El Presidente.

November General Membership Meeting & Dinner Recap

Lo Lo’s Chicken & Waffles, Gilbert, AZ – November 29, 2018

by El Presidente

Lo Lo’s Chicken & Waffles is one of my perennial favorites, but this time we tried out their Gilbert location instead of the usual one in Scottsdale that we go to.  Luckily, when our group started arriving, there was plenty of room.  Our group grew and grew along with the amount of regular patrons sitting down for dinner.

November 2nd Sunday Breakfast Recap

Haymaker Restaurant – Litchfield Park, AZ – November 11, 2018

by El Presidente

It started as a chilly morning ride with temperatures in the high 40’s as I left the house.  I had considered taking my Honda since it’s all wired for heated vest and has heated grips.  But it was a short ride to my destination for a change.  I elected to take the Harley and forgo all of the electrically heated luxuries.  This morning’s breakfast was at the Haymaker Restaurant in Litchfield Park.
